Summary/Abstract: Johan Roskiewicz is among the many travelers who passed through Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second half of the 19th century, leaving a written record of their journey. This Austrian intelligence officer presented his observations about the Bosnian Eyalet to the public in the travelogue Studien über Bosnien und die Herzegovina, which was published in 1868. The central place in this work is occupied by the parts of the travelogue in which Roskiewicz described his trip to Mostar and the surrounding towns, and in which he touched upon certain characteristics of the Herzegovina region.
