Summary/Abstract: In 1897, the National Museum in Sarajevo conducted a survey seeking to gain an insight into the speech of the common people. This was the very first dialectological questionnaire in the South Slavic region. In the Kladanj area, which then included today’s Olovo municipality, five questionnaires were completed. The answers from these questionnaires, as well as the notes, enable the reconstruction of the dialectal image of Kladanj and its surroundings at the end of the 19th century. This paper emphasizes the most important phonetic-phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical features of these dialects and their stratification with respect to the confessional affiliation of the speaker.
