Summary/Abstract: Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was an Indian politician and the only female Prime Minister of the country. Daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, she served as Prime Minister of India from 1966 to 1977 and from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. In 1999, Indira Gandhi was named „Woman of the Millennium” in an online poll organized by the BBC. The present study follows her incredible life and speaks about her legacy in India and beyond.
