Summary/Abstract: Our article is based on five documents (13 pages) from the tracking file of the archaeologist Dinu Adameșteanu, a ‘dossier’ which was compiled 50s by the Foreign Directorate of the Communist Security in Romania, during the 50s. Adameșteanu’s correspondence with Romanian archaeologists Dionisie Pippidi, Radu Vulpe, and Emil Condurachi, proved to be a subject of interest for the communist regime, as is illustrated by the informative notes. We consider such documents to be important elements for understanding the functioning of Romanian intellectual life in the communist regime, especially the situation in the field of archaeology.
