Summary/Abstract: Covid-19 has generated a global crisis of public health, economy and political systems. ln this text, the author analyzes the impact of the last pandemic on the development of democracy. Phenomenologically, the reexamination of democracy in the theoretical sense was characterized by dilemmas about whether non-democratic models are more suitable for managing crises and society, and whether the increase in popularity of authoritarian forms of government is a confirmation of the continuation of the dying process of a political paradigm. ln the second part, the subject of research is the impact of the pandemic on political processes in Serbia. The author concludes that several different factors influenced the intensity and consequences of the negative impact of the pandemic. ln several countries of the European Union, in Serbia and its surroundings, a trend of autocratization has been observed, so these countries are slowly returning to the regular mode of functioning of democracy. ln Serbia, the crisis of legitimacy and respect for the rule of law and human rights continued during Covid-19.
