Summary/Abstract: The Еmmanuil Popdimitrov's poem the „Golden cornfields and battlefields” was not a subject of special literary analysis, due largely to the fact that the book falls after 1952 'Lists of harmful literature' from 1952, 1955 and 1957, confiscated from the libraries. The analysed poem is among the few works dedicated to the First Balkan War and is rousing interest for its autobiographicy and documentarity, as well as an achievement in the genre of epic. Popdimitrov manages to create very strong suggestions in the image of the war than his contemporaries Stilian Chilingirov and Kiril Hristov. The “Golden cornfields and battlefields” the poet connects the real events of war with religious and philosophical messages of the Christian parable of the human life.
