Summary/Abstract: The spiritual life of the Church, reflected in the experience of the hesychasts fathers, who revealed an important corpus of philokalical teachings, shows us that the main virtue that lies at the foundation of doing good deeds is discernment. Right judgment is absolutely necessary for the Christian, as it helps him to keep his spiritual stability. Will, ability and knowledge to choose between good and evil, discernment will relate the actions and deeds of the person to the experience of hesychasts, who had the blessing of the Spirit and made it active in their lives. Discernment is the value that gives authenticity to our choices, reflecting an attribute of the divine image in the human person, the freedom.
