Summary/Abstract: For several decades Kalisz was a large center of Orthodoxy in the Kingdom of Poland and the capital of the province. In the city there was the Cathedral of st. st. Piotr and Paul whose parishioners included inhabitants of Kalisz, Kalisz poviat and other neighboring poviats. Orthodox inhabitants concluded marriages there. Examination of marriage unions will provide information about marriages themselves and the structure of the Orthodox community of Kalisz and Kalisz governorate. This is an important issue due to the fact that the structure and composition of the Kalisz Orthodox minority have not been examined so far.
