Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to reflect, from the point of view of reader response criticism, on the meaning of the short story The Bridge by Franz Kafka. Previous interpretations of the short story from other research papers will be taken into account, in order to show the various messages that can be perceived, function of taking the context when the story was written, and the author’s concerns. The author of the paper takes into account the associations of contemporary day readers, who are very much familiar with the fantasy genre.
