Summary/Abstract: The article explores some questions related to the application of the theoretical frame created by the Russian folklorist and formalist Vladimir Yakovlevich Propp to the analysis of Bulgarian textual folklore material. More specifically, the article focuses on the origins of one folklore legend from the Northern Rhodope Christian village of Yugovo. The research questions is, whether the legend is a shortened and modified version of an already mentioned by Propp magical tale related to the motif of “a dragon abducts a maiden: she kills him”.
