Summary/Abstract: This article describes the main aspects and objectives of the one-child policy, which has been conducted in China since 1978. The article discusses the impact of this program on the fertility rate and on the sex ratio. Additionally, it describes risks and threads that may occur in the future, as a result of the implementation of this policy.
