Summary/Abstract: Contemporary realism in fine arts corresponds to modernism and borrows expressive means and creative techniques from it. The difference between it and traditional realism (of Courbet, Repin, Vasnetsov, Mrkvička) is growing, and it is especially strongly manifested in the contemporary avant-garde, which has the ambition to separate and oppose the artistic tradition.
