Summary/Abstract: Individuals are exposed to discrimination because of their different qualities. In addition to the classical types of discrimination such as religion, language, race, ethnicity, gender and worldview, discrimination against the “elderly” is a category of othering that should be taken into account. The “others” of the new generation, the elderly, constitute the main material of the caps, which come into our lives, especially through social media and interpret the events in society in a more entertaining and sarcastic way. In this study, the caps shared about the elderly people on social media in Turkey are examined and it is revealed how they are marginalized. As a result of the research, it has been determined that caps reinforce age discrimination with discourses such as “naughty, grumpy, unlovable, weak, forgetful, lacking in physical capacity, unable to keep up with the times, cannot contribute to the production and are in need of care.”
