Summary/Abstract: On the assumption that the linguistic universe of Senegal is characterized by ethnolinguistic diversity, this article aims on the one hand to present the curent sociolinguistic situation and the linguistic policy of the country, and on the other hand to expose, from a diachronic point of view, the history of French teaching in the schools of Senegal.
