Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to describe the form, meaning, and motivation of the relatively new phrase in the contemporary Polish language, which appears particularly in the media and used most frequently when talking of passing law, regulations, and projects. In the first part the problematic questions were analysed concerning the meaning and form of the phrase, in the second part – the motivation which (according to the types distinguished by A.M. Lewicki) can be described as a global metaphoric motivation. The phrase appears in several textual variants of which the most frequent are przepychać and dopychać kolanem. The common semantic component emerging from the analysed examples can be initially described as ‘persistently, firmly strive to carry something out according to one’s will, paying attention only to one’s own aims and needs’. In the article the phrase was also considered against the background of the main ways of multiplying the phraseological repertoire of the Polish language.
