Summary/Abstract: The article offers a few possible acrostic readings in two canons: one from the service to the prophet Zechariah (on the 8 th of February) and one from the service to Apostle Onesimus (on the 15 th of February) from the General Menaion for February in the transcript from GIM 164. The two canons present the existence of a jointly acrostic writing of the names Pipin and Boris. This fact is elaborated in two directions: either these are the names of developed hymnographers from the First Bulgarian Kingdom with individual signatures or the names are written together to denote historical personalities (Pipin II or Boris I Mihail) with equal ruler’s rank in condition to be eternalized in the acrostic space. A hypothesis is formed based on the indicated similarities in the development of the acrostic that a particular school existed in the Old Bulgarian hymnography of the First Bulgarian Kingdom.
