Summary/Abstract: On the example of Russian avant-garde artists, the article discusses art as a meansof producing knowledge. Nabokina analyzes the ever-current problem of the mutualrelations between embodied and theoretical knowledge by referring to argumentsof “pre-contextual ethnography” (Michael Jackson, Anne Line Dalsgård, Ryszard Nycz),research on the role of kinesthesia in contemporary art (Irina Sirotkina, Roger Smith), andby placing artists’ activities in a historical-scientific context.
