Summary/Abstract: The term “intrahistory” was coined by Miguel de Unamuno in an 1895 essay laterpublished in the collection En torno al casticismo. Bender introduces it to Polishhistoriographical discourse, offering Polish translations of sections from the essay anddiscussing the cultural and historical context in which it “intrahistory” was developed. She also indicates how the intrahistorical model can be applied to Unamuno’s first novel. The assumptions of intrahistory largely correspond to contemporary historiographical –especially microhistorical – practices. This inspires Bender to compare Ewa Domańska’swork with Unamuno’s theorisation of intrahistory, highlighting both similarities anddifferences.
