State and perspectives of research on Slovak dialects in Serbia

Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we bring information about the state of research on Slovak dialects in Serbia. In the introductory part we deal with the beginnings of research on these dialects. We pay special attention to the dialectological research of Jozef Štolc in the former Yugoslavia, as well as to the research on Slovak dialects in Serbia after Štolc. We also offer a look at current research on Slovak dialects in Serbia, in which an interdisciplinary approach played a crucial role. In the final part of the paper, we try to outline the perspectives of further research on the studied Slovak dialects.
