Attachment style and satisfaction in close relationships

Summary/Abstract: Тhe purpose of the study is to review the actual state of research that links the adult attachment style to relationship satisfaction, via a set of risk factors that have been shown to flow from an analysis of attachment styles and to be important for attaining and maintaining relationship satisfaction. The paper begins with a general discussion of the attachment system, describe the attachment styles, introduce evidence that they are associated with relationship satisfaction and discuss the implications for the partners of individuals having either secure or insecure attachment styles. Limitations of the existing literature and directions for future research are presented at the end of the study.
