Summary/Abstract: The theoretical review discusses the development of the ideas in attachment theory, its conceptual units and research models, the nature and the stability of individual differences in attachment functioning, the integrative model of attachment-system activation and dynamics. The article summarizes recent findings of numerous empirical studies concerning the function of attachment behavioral system in stress management, emotion regulation and support seeking in adulthood.
