Summary/Abstract: At the completion of the conservation-restoration works, of the artistic components which enrich the interior decoration ensemble, this paper presents the restoration chronicle of the interventions on the painting from the main altar – the votive painting dedicated to „Saint George killing the dragon” – as well as a short presentation of the artistic activity of the artist Michael Angelo Unterberger (1695–1758). The precarious conservation condition of the painting imposed a complete set of methodological interventions, the main procedures focused on the conservation of the original wooden stretcher, the consolidation of the canvas and the painting layers, as well as on the removal of the overpainting, and finally the chromatic retouching of the filled gaps and the erosions, the entire painting being covered in a final layer of varnish.
