Summary/Abstract: An object exposed in a microclimate averse to conservation can be a challenge for the specialists involved in its salvage. The icon representing the case study was probably kept for decades in a wall niche, strongly affected by humidity. The inappropriate interventions carried out in time and the biologic evolution added up to the deterioration causes of the icon. The complexity of the diagnostic required an adapted intervention methodology with some changes in the classical order of the operations, repeated recursions and adjustment of common solutions.
