With one of the characteristic manifestations of the present, with the dynamic onset of new media, the rapid development and massive use of information and communication technologies, systems and means, another new range of possibilities has emerged, such as disseminating, sharing, but also searching for information and news. At the same time, however, a new range of options has emerged for disseminating misleading and information – disinformation – in order to influence people’s actions. The spread of disinformation thus represents an extremely dangerous threat today, which can have very adverse consequences for individuals, organizations, and society as a whole. Therefore, the aim of the author of the article is to point out the danger of dissemination of disinformation, the need to look at them as a security threat for a democratic society and the need to take adequate measures to prevent their dissemination.
