Summary/Abstract: After World War II, on the initiative of the Central Committee of Polish Jews, Jewish kindergartens, after-kindergarten care centers and – the most numerous – kindergartens groups in after-school care centers. Such establishment emerged practically in all cities and towns with larger Jewish population in Lower Silesia, which proves the organizational efficiency of this population. Only few typical kindergartens were opened, but it is worth mentioning that Jews were the only minority in postwar Poland which ran their own establishments of this kind. In the whole Wrocław voivodeship, 30 kindergartens, after-kindergarten care centers and after-school care centers with kindergartens groups were opened; these institutions retained their independence until 1949, i.e., until nationalization. Their development was affected by the postwar emigration of Jews, as well as by the change of the attitude of communist authorities to the Jewish minority, and – indirectly – also by implementing Stalinist order in Poland.
