Summary/Abstract: Starting from the hypothesis that imagological images constructed by literature have the potential to be inscribed in identity, the paper problematizes the role of Bosnian literature in the process of constructing cultural identity and, associated with it, the cultural memory of the (at least) three cultural communities. The paper points to the distinct and continuous functionalization of Bosnian literature through its historical development, given its role and aspirations in the process of cultural identification, offers a possible classification and periodization of the literature of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The paper concludes that Bosnian literature, functioning as an exceptional ideological apparatus, as understood by Althuser, on the one hand, and a subversive mechanism, on the other, is realized as one of the basic mechanisms of socio-cultural and political-ideological currents and changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In other words, it shows that we can't observe it only through the space of representation of cultural identities but also through the space of its de/construction.
