Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the applicability of a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) educational setting in medical training. Starting with a theoretical overview of CLIL, the research continues to differentiate between this type of educational setting and the one of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI). The practical part of this paper analyses which of the two educational settings is more appropriate for an English programme in medical studies. The last part of the paper is constructed around two investigations. The first concerns the institutional approach of “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, and the second one analyses questionnaires directed at students.
