Summary/Abstract: With the ratification of the Istanbul Convention, the State of the Republic of Moldova reiterates that it recognizes domestic violence as a serious form of violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms and assumes that responsibility, internationally and nationally, to fight in order to eradicate the phenomenon and to align with those international standards by which all human rights and freedoms are ensured. Thus, the Istanbul Convention requires the state, the Republic of Moldova, to take legislative and other necessary measures that would effectively contribute to the prevention of violence against women and domestic violence.
