Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to offer a perspective of Graham Swift’s poem Inmates of a reader that is familiar with his work, which is the author of this paper. The paper shows the gradual process of understanding the poem in the context of Graham Swift’s novels, as well as of the relationship he establishes with his readers. The associations that can be made with his novels by looking at the imagery of the poem is a sign of trust and complicity between Graham Swift and his readers. The originality of the paper consists in the fact that Swift’s poems have not been subject of detailed research.
