Summary/Abstract: Handwritten literature was common in Ottoman Bulgaria up to the first half of the nineteenth-century. The following text discusses the reception of early modern Bulgarian printed works – Sunday Book (1806) by Sophronius of Vratsa and Tale of the Terrible Second Coming of Christ (1814) by Yoakim Karchovski – by damaskini writers from different areas (Macedonia, Central Rhodopes). The comparison of changes made by the transcribers illustrates the character and extent of influence of these works on the standardization of the modern Bulgarian literary norm.
