Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to describe and analyse the idea of the good life as understood by the proponents of voluntary simplicity, using Hartmut Rosa’s concept of resonance and deceleration as an analytical tool. In the first part of the article, I provide the theoretical background necessary for further considerations; this includes an introduction to Rosa’s concepts of the good life, resonance and deceleration, and a synthetic description of the main assumptions of voluntary simplicity. In the next section, I analyse the practices of simplifying life in terms of resonance relations (key to the establishment of the good life) and deceleration, de-growth and cooperation.
