Summary/Abstract: Academician Duichev’s outline is the only more comprehensive presentation of the personality and work of Prof. Y. Todorov, a high-class expert, distinguished not only by his insight but also by his original and elegant style. I deem it necessary to explain when and on what occasion it was written. In my capacity as editor in our book publishing for abroad several times in the 70s I suggested and insisted on the publication as a translation for the foreign readers of that part of Y.Todorov’s writings which referred to the spiritual culture of the Thracians. Thus in the early 80s it was proceeded with a publication which included two of his works: “Ancient Civilization in Bulgaria” (1929) and “Prechristian Religious Movements in Our Lands” (1930). In this undertaking I was encouraged by Academician Dujcev who agreed to present the author as writer and personality. His introduction to Prof. Yanko Todorov, written in May 1985, was brought out translated into foreign languages together with the above-mentioned two works of the professor, under the general title “The Spiritual Culture of the Thracians” (Sofia Press, 1987). I preserved the original text of Academician Dujcev who died before the appearance of the book. By this historiographic work, which was one of his last writings, he set an example of respecting what is important in our historiography and culture, and of observing true continuity.
