Summary/Abstract: The article explores the presidential candidate debate between the current President Rumen Radev and his main opponent Prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov. It traces whether their vocabulary adheres to the official sphere of communication, its dynamics and whether it meets the requirements of high speech etiquette. On the other hand, it examines its expressive colouring and how common phenomena such as speech aggression are. The study observes at what point debaters abandon and forget about formal behavior, at what point they give vent to emotions and how it affects their expression. The object of linguistic analysis is the tendency to idleness, the frequency in the use of metaphors, metonymies, hyperboles, phraseological word combinations. The question is raised whether they succeed in this way to attract voters and win approval, or on the contrary, achieve the opposite effect by provoking the audience's dissatisfaction.
