Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on Polish compound nouns that were created during the time of COVID-19 pandemic, particularly those nouns with the productive stem korona-. The research material was excerpted from Polish magazines and internet texts, published between the beginning of the pandemic and April of 2021. The principal aim of the paper was to examine the new compound words in the context of two trends occurring in the Polish language in the early 21st century: internationalisation and degradation. While relatively few of the new words are anglicisms, many of them belong to the lower registers of speech or are offensive. Most vulgar vocabulary is to be found in comments and posts on social networks. The highlighted lexemes are mostly used in the nominative case, which indicates an impoverishment of Polish stylistics.
