On the old and new use of the term “genus”. A short logical approach

Summary/Abstract: I tried to contribute in this article with some clarifications, and suggestions coming from logic in order to understand as accurately as possible the old and new use of the term „genus” in Romanian language. For the beginning, I presented some landmarks related to the usual use of the term and some linguistic interpretations of the new meanings. Then, in the logical analysis itself, I chose and commented several other old and new meanings of the term „genus”: in the genus-species relationship, in the generic example and in the explanation. After this analysis, we found that, in addition to the new meanings acquired by this term (worthy of study especially by the science of linguistics), the term also retained its old meanings with logical relevance.
