Summary/Abstract: In dramaturgical analysis of film adaptation of Šćepanovi’s novella The Death of Mr. Goluža, director Živko Nikolić, we concluded that in comparison to the original text the relationship between assumed and modified transposition units, on one hand and their dramaturgical ’upgrade’, on the other hand is disproportionate, and that only a small part in its unmodified form is present in the final version of the script. This leads us unequivocally to the conclusion that Nikolić considered important the initial idea, motif and structural-narrative framework of the story, but that in the process of its film transposition, accurately ‘translating’, if we ignore contingent similarities, into a system of a new and fundamentally different structured model of artistic communication, the absolute priority gave to the specific elements of the film narrative codes. Transposing his own story in the framework of new art coordinates, in an atypical process of its meta-structural modifications, the writer Branimir Šepanović, in fact, wrote a new one. But the essential difference, one in which Šćepanovi had to participate as co-writer, is contained in the reduction, and even total rejection of intertextual narrative components, which in a new, in this case film conceptual framework, is possible to transpose only in a form of monologue. Such an approach to diegetical-narrative ’alignment’ Nikolić rejected in advance as non-cinematical and, finally, ’slowing down’ in the compositional modeling and rhythmicization of a film story .
