The Combatant and Member of Botev’s Unit Yanko Boyanov and His “Biography”

Summary/Abstract: The authoress makes us familiar with an authentic document that is practically unknown to Bulgarian historical sciences, the “Biography” of Yanko Boyanov, an associate of Hristo Botev and participant in his unit. The “Biography” was written in 1898 and is kept in the State Archives – Rousse. The author has tried to be precise and objective, to set out the facts of the life of an emigre in Romania, of his joining Botev’s unit, its progress and defeat accurately and objectively. The author's individuality, values and his mentality are felt. Over everything else rises Yanko Boyanov’s striving for freedom and his willingness to sacrifice his life for it.
