Summary/Abstract: In this paper, in the form of extremely concise cross-section, a key “borderline” Serbian ethno-cultural markers are represented, primarily in the context of contemporary ethno-genetic research, as well as formulating a general ethnological framework for understanding (both olden days and current) ethnic processes. The most recent, modern possibilities of ethnological and genetic, multidisciplinary review of degree of truthfulness of various folk conceptions and legends of past and origins are presented. Primarily in the form of short illustrative examples and guidelines, different ethno-cultural and other indicators are considered - associated with basic ethno-identity information – that is of particular importance for the ethnogenetic and broader conceptualized ethno-Serbian research (especially in those areas where the Serbian language, identity and culture are intertwined and bordering with other cultural, linguistic and identity models).
