Summary/Abstract: The paper acknowledges the reader to the most prominent representatives of Russian and Ukrainian scholars in the field of Ethnology who made researches in Chernovtsy region, being in the same time a part of Bukovina and Bessarabia. The researches were made mainly by the administration of Russian Empire, but also by representatives of some scientific Russian associations, While Russian were interested in cultural traditions of ethnic groups, the Ukrainians preferred the Rusins in the area.
