Summary/Abstract: This contribution is basically concerned with the qualitative analysis of three cases of classes in Serbian language in settlements of Felnac, Arad Gai and Sânpetru Mare, which belong to the region of Mureş river. The classes in Serbian language in settlements Felnac and Sânpetru Mare are institutionalized within the Serbian departments of primary schools in these settlements. Serbian language classes in the settlement of Arad Gai, the suburb of the town of Arad, are organized with the support of the Association of Serbs in Romania. Qualitative sociolinguistic analysis of narratives about the attitudes of Serbian language speakers, as well as the attitudes of teachers who teach in the Serbian language indicates a declining number of speakers of Serbian language in the region of Mureş river, as well as that speakers belong to the oldest generation, that the youngest generation of speakers, and even students that attend classes in Serbian language, do not use Serbian language in wide range of linguistic domains. The studies indicate the drastic reduction in number of students of Serbian classes in the last twenty years, the adaptation of teaching to passive knowledge of the Serbian language in the generation of primary school students , on the one hand, and the possible reversal of the Serbian classes to the small number of students, on the other. Although the primary goal of the field researches were not the consideration of socio-linguistic situation, nor the studies were primarily designed to integrate the language preservation, subsequently was concluded that the language situation had pointed to the need to language preservation, and the prevention of language shift.
