Summary/Abstract: The contemporary Serbian literature of Kosovo and Metohija covers chronologically the last seventy years in the literary-historical review. The best writers of this regional literature represent the significant part of the Serbian national literature. Their work was not sufficiently known and valued in their own language and within the Serbian national culture due to the negative political context in which Kosovo has been in the last decades. This paper will follow the literary-historical, theoretical and critical aspects of the work of authors from Kosovo and Metohija and give a review of their aesthetic features and genre divisions. In this context, predominant among them are the poets, while there are only few prose writers and dramatists. There are also an insufficient number of literary critics in the review of the contemporary Serbian literature of Kosovo and Metohija. The phenomenology of the Kosovo myth will especially be defined as the thematic, ethical and aesthetic constant and focus of this literature. The concept of the sublime, synthetic review and evaluation of the work of the Serbian authors from Kosovo and Metohija will contribute to a better understanding, contextualization and homogenization of the literary creation of the southern Serbian province within the general streams of the contemporary Serbian literature. In this way, the literary values of the writers from Kosovo and Metohija will be affirmed and their cultural position further internationalized.
