Summary/Abstract: The main scope of study is the presentation, explication and reflexion of the Hungarian theoretical monography From Sign to Code. Systematic Semiotics (2013) written by Mihály Szívós. This is the fundamental general theory of signs based on ideas of American philosopher and founder of modern semiotics Charles Sanders Pierce. First the author of the study made sketchy survey about the situation of Hungarian semiotic research, secondly reviewed the publication, and the last suggests some possibilities of application for literary theory and for interpretation of works of art.
