Summary/Abstract: Turkestan region has seen the rebellious movements of Turkish folks against Tsarist regime between the last quarter of 19th century and the first quarter of 20th century. The most striking of these rebellious movements is the uprising that took place in 1916. At the heart of this uprising lies the idea of Turkish folks to get rid of the Tsarist regime and this uprising is regarded as the first mass armed resistance movement of this kind. In this respect, this uprising has attracted attention in the historiography of both Russia and Turkestan Turkish states. In the relevant literature, the 1916 Turkistan uprising has been addressed in terms of the cause-effect relationship and the effects it caused in the region. In this regard, this study aims to focus on the untouched or incomplete aspects of the 1916 Turkestan uprising, which has been addressed within the relevant literature of especially Russian and Central Asian Turkish states.
