Linguistic politeness as a tool for shaping the speaker's ethos in the statements of contemporary Polish politicians

Summary/Abstract: There are many acts of linguistic politeness and comments on the politeness system in political discourse, such as public acts of apology, calls to follow good manners or demonstrative title forms. The research material based on the news media served as a starting point for the analysis of the above-mentioned types of statements as an attempt at their initial classification. In this article, I examine which tactics of linguistic politeness are used by publicly speaking politicians and how they serve to build the ethos of the speaker and the ethos of the politician.
