Brief considerations on the unjustified extension of the time limit within which a suspect must be notified of the criminal charges

Summary/Abstract: There are situations in judicial practice where in rem criminal investigations are unduly prolonged. In the present article we intend to analyse whether in such situations we can talk about a violation of criminal procedural rules, whether there is indeed an obligation for the prosecuting authorities to bring formal charges against a person at a certain moment, what is that moment and what could the sanctions be in case of any “delays”.
