LEGAL ASPECTS OF FEEDING WILDLIFE SPECIES IN NATURAL HABITATS

Summary/Abstract: The magnitude of the phenomenon of feeding specimens of wildlife species, the negative effects on them, but also the occurrence of human-wildlife conflicts in the context of feeding, have generated the need to regulate this activity. The author critically analyzes the regulations regarding the feeding of wild animals included in the hunting legislation, without omitting the regulations of a smaller extent existing in the legislation of the protected natural areas and of the development of the picnic activities. Particular attention is paid to the institution of legal liability for non-compliance with regulations on the feeding of wild animals. To the conclusions of the paper on, inter alia, the illegality of restricting the obligations of complementary feeding of wildlife by the temporary manager of the hunting ground, the need to remove contradictions and terminological inconsistencies from secondary hunting legislation or establishing the obligation to feed wildlife in the management of protected natural areas and the detailed regulation of this activity, a series of proposals of lege ferenda is added to them.
