Summary/Abstract: The pluralis auctoris is an example of how the primary meaning of a grammarcategory can be transposed into a secondary meaning. In Czech scientific texts, a single authoroften uses the we-perspective instead of using the first person singular perspective. However, since the 1990s the Anglo-American scientific standards started spreading into the Czech scientificdiscourse, which increased the occurrence of the I-perspective in Czech scientific textsconsiderably. In this paper, we aim to answer the question to what extent the pluralis auctorisis applied in bachelor and master theses written between 2006 and 2021 at two universitiesin the Czech Republic (Charles University in Prague and Technical University of Liberec). Thespecimen contains 500 theses.
