Summary/Abstract: It is difficult to find in modern history an equivalent of the crisis induced in human society by the current pandemic of COVID 19. A call to historical data allows us to situate the magnitude of the impact on human society in previous crises such as those caused by the great epidemics of the Middle Ages that led to large losses in human and material terms and led to deep restructuring of governing mechanisms. the political regime and the functioning of human society. Globalization and the information society in which we live make impossible the distances and time that were real barriers to global pandemics and have often been, in modern times, factors that have led to their regionalization and containment. In this context, the pandemic impact is global and multilateral with manifestations in all areas of human activity, including in the geopolitical and geo strategic sphere. Its dimensions and the way it affects given geopolitical and geostrategic areas is a variable one depending on socio-economic, political, military, medical parameters, etc.. Our approach aims to analyze the consequences on the security environment in the Wider Black Sea Region that the current pandemic crisis could have in terms of possible developments, threats and risk factors, with reference to the area as a whole and to the states components.
