Summary/Abstract: The article tells the story of Ivan Vazov's stay in Romania (1871–1872 and 1876–1877) and seeks the answer to the question "How did this stay influence Vazov's development as an author?". His life as a poet in Romania is paramount because this is where he shaped the features of his creative flair which later helped him lay down the foundation of modern Bulgarian literature.
