Summary/Abstract: Among the saints who made a significant contribution to the Christianization of today’s southwestern Germany is St. Magnus, mentioned in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches on September 6. Of German or Rhaeto-Roman origin, St. Magnus was entered the monastery of St. Gallen, later being called to mission in the land of Allgäu by the bishop of Augsburg. The successful preaching of Christianity and the many miracles he performed there led to the belief that he was a saint, being rightly considered today, “the apostle of the land of Allgäu.”
